Check Which Versions of. NET Framework
The Microsoft .NET Framework is a significant element of the cutting edge Windows working framework. It provides developers with a collection of ready-made code that Microsoft maintains. Most of the time, you have no direct behavior with the .NET Framework. However, this is not always the case. Many times, you have to know the specific version of the .NET Framework installed on your system.
Here are six ways by which you can find out which version of .NET Framework is installed on your version of Windows.
There are three methods that you can use to locate your .NET Framework version for versions 4.5 and later. "But Gavin," I hear you say, "I'm doing it to find out which version I have, I don't know if it's version 4.5 or not."
You are absolutely right. It only takes a moment to test for the .NET Framework version. If you have .NET Framework version 4.5 or later, you can install quickly. On the off chance that you don't, you can securely expect that you have a prior rendition introduced, or no .NET Framework form by any stretch of the imagination (which is exceptionally far-fetched).
1. Use Registry Editor to find the .NET Framework version
You can find the .NET Framework version installed on your system in the registry.
- Press Ctrl R to open the Run, then input regedit.
- When Registry Editor opens, find the following entry:
- Under V4, check for complete if it is there, you have .NET Framework version 4.5 or later.
- In the right-hand panel, check for the DWORD entry named Release. If the release DWORD exists, you have the .NET Framework 4.5 or later.
- The release DWORD data contains values corresponding to a specific .NET Framework version. For example, in the image below, the value of release DWORD is 461814. This means that the .NET Framework 4.7.2 is installed in my system. See the table below for your release DWORD value.
You can cross-check the DWORD value against the value table below to find the exact .NET Framework version on your system.
2. Use the command prompt to find the .NET Framework version
Type the command in your start menu search bar, right-click the best match and choose Run as Administrator. Now, copy and paste the following command into the command prompt:
Version 4. The command for .NET Framework version 4 lists the installed .NET Framework and later displays it as "v4.x.xxxxx".
3. Use PowerShell to find .Net Framework version
Type powers in your Start menu search bar, right-click Best Match and choose Run as Administrator.
Now, you can use the following command to check the value of .NET Framework release DWORD:
ItemPropertyValue -Name Release | Foreach-Object {$ _ -get 394802}
If the .NET Framework version is 4.6.2 or higher, the above command is correct. Otherwise, it returns false. You can use the .NET Framework DWORD values table above to swap the last six digits of a command for a different version. See my example:
The first command confirms that version 4.6.2 exists. The second confirms that version 4.7.2 exists. However, the third command check for version 4.8, which I have not yet installed because the Windows 10 May update has not arrived on my system. However, you get an idea of how the PowerShell command works with the DWORD value table.
Find an older .NET Framework version
You can find which older .NET Framework versions are installed on your system using the registry. Registry Editor has all the answers.
- Open the Run.
- When Registry Editor opens, find the following entry.
- Check. Net Framework Version NDP file in the registry for each.
Check your .NET Framework version using third-party tools
There are some tools that you can use to automatically find the .NET Framework version on your system. However, they are not updated often, which is why the manual method is easy to know, too.
1. Raymondcc .NETDetector
The Raymondcc .NET detector is one of the fastest and easiest detection devices. black versions are installed on your system, while gray versions do not. If you click on the grayed-out .NET Framework version, the details take you to the installer.
Archive password is Raymond
2. ASoft .NET version detector
ASoft .NET Version Detector Raymondsy. NET Detector works in the same way. Once you download and extract the program, run the executable. Shows the Program a list of currently installed. Net Framework Version. It also provides download links for versions that you do not have.
