Is Not Your Android Phone Charging? We Will Tell You 7 Ways to Fix
You probably do not think much about the process of charging your phone: plug in a cable, listen to a little tone, and move on. But due to many reasons, your phone's battery can refuse to charge, when you swear that you have done everything right.
Fortunately, you will not have to go to the service center immediately after this happens. If your Android phone is not charging, then here are some improvements to try.
1. Reboot your phone
Often, smartphone issues are such that it is due to a simple hiccup. To find out that there is a temporary glitch, a reboot should be your first step.
Restarting your phone will expire all background services. It also refreshes your phone's main components, if one of them had crashed while doing the job. To quickly reboot, simply hold down the power button and tap on the restart option.
If the charging capabilities of your phone work again after reboot, then you should review all third-party applications and uninstall those you do not trust.
2. Try charging your phone in safe mode
As the next step, try to boot your phone in safe mode. Essentially, Safe Mode is a sandbox environment that restricts your phone only for software that was originally sent with it. This means that any third-party applications you download do not run in safe mode.
If you are able to charge your phone in safe mode, then you know for sure that the culprit is a third-party service. Once confirmed, consider any apps you've recently downloaded. One of them may be the reason for your charging issues.
Try to uninstall recent apps and all those you do not trust or are not used in a while. Then reboot your phone normally and see if it is charged again. If you can not fix the problem with this method, then a factory reset is the most efficient fix.
To enter safe mode on most new Android devices, press and hold the power button. As a result, touch and hold the power off button. After accepting the prompt, your phone will be switched back to safe mode soon. To exit Safe Mode, repeat the process, instead select the restart option.
Since not all Android skin works the same way, the process on your phone may be different. If the steps described here do not work, try visiting the support website for your device or viewing the button combination for safe mode.
3. Switch to a different adapter
Your phone's charging fault can be the result of a faulty accessory. The cable may have a loose wire, the adapter can have a malfunction, or even the socket may fail to turn on properly.
Therefore, you should try to charge via a separate cable, adapter or power source. The easiest way to check whether the cable is good, connect your phone to a computer via USB.
If your phone is capable of charging through a PC, you can limit troubleshooting to an adapter and socket. If alternate cable or power brick moves, then make a new investment. We recommend buying basic, first-party items or avoiding junky knockoffs with trusted third-party names like Anchor.
4. Ensure that this is not a software bug

A common bug found on the mobile operating system prevents the charging icon from showing when your phone is plugged in. Installing an app called Ampere shows you whether your phone has this problem or not.
Ampere allows you to see how much of your phone is currently running or charging. So once you connect it to a power source, set the ampere app to fire and if it says that your phone is charging, you can breathe easily. As there is a software bug here, you can either wait for an OS update or try a hard reset to fix it.
Ampere comes with a couple of other features that you can also work with. It indicates that your phone's battery is in good condition, available voltage and current temperature.
Another way to test this problem is to turn off your phone and then insert the charging cable. If it is working properly then your phone's screen will shine with a charging animation.

5. Visit a service center
If all else fails, then your last resort is to check with your phone professional. Since none of the above techniques were successful, you are most likely a hardware failure.
Hopefully, your phone is still in warranty, so you do not have to pay anything for repair. Otherwise, you may have to pay to change the charging port.
6. Drop in the water? Dry it
If there is a possibility of water damage then you should not charge your phone at all. First of all, you have to make sure your phone's interior is completely dry.
There are different ways to save the phone from falling in the water. You can blow up with a hairdryer in hot air, dump it in a rice bowl, or try other methods. However, you have to wait at least one day before plugging your phone again.
7. Clean the charging port

Since it is always exposed to debris, the charging port is one of the weakest elements of your phone. Dust particles can accumulate and obstruct your phone's connection quickly in a power source.
Inspect the charging port of your phone and if you see the construction of dirt or other grime, clean it. You can do it easily by rubbing it with cotton wool. Since it is a little fragile, you should see it with a gentle hand.
For better tracking, use a flashlight to fully inspect the charging port area. If you see stuck inside any foreign debris, then you can do a lot of cleaning using the SIM Ejector Tool or toothpick. After giving a nice cleaning to your port, try charging your phone again.
